Beginning January 12, the government will give an iPhone installment plan for the general public.
Dr. Umar Saif disclosed the details of his cooperation with telecom entities.
The interim government has revealed a ground-breaking program that will launch on January 12, 2024, providing the general public with an iPhone installment plan.
In October 2023, Umar Saif, the Interim Federal Minister for Information Technology, first announced the details of this partnership with telecom companies.
He emphasized the need for such a program, noting that although a large proportion of Pakistanis own mobile phones, many still cannot afford the high price of high-end devices.
The goal of this new initiative, which Dr. Saif emphasized, is to make the newest smartphone models available to people at reasonable and convenient installment payments.
The fact that iPhones are included in the list of devices that are covered by the installment plan is an intriguing aspect of this offering. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will enforce the Device Identification, Registration, and Blocking Systems (DIRBS), potentially blocking handsets in cases of installment default.
The goal of this policy, according to Dr. Umar Saif, is to encourage prudent financial management while enabling the ongoing expansion of smartphone accessibility across a range of income levels.
Telecom companies are positioned to be key players in this, giving consumers direct access to smartphones through planned payment plans and so expanding the benefits of mobile broadband, especially for lower-class members of society.
