Pakistan lost the first Twenty20 International against the hosts by 46 runs, which marked a poor start to their trip of New Zealand.After electing to bat first, New Zealand built a massive 226 runs thanks to some amazing performances from Daryl Mitchell and Kane Williamson. Babar Azam made a heroic 35 off 35 balls, but Pakistan could only muster 180 runs in reply.

Pakistan is keen to even the series and make apologies going into the second game at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

Apart from poor fielding, the visitors were particularly dissatisfied with the performances of leg-spinner Usama Mir and pacer Aamer Jamal, who both gave 51 runs in four overs and contributed to his team's defeat.

The visitors may attempt to make a few adjustments by replacing Jamal with bowler Zaman Khan in this critical match.

If this change is made, the visitors may replace Usama Mir with the experienced all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz to improve their batting depth.

The captain Shaheen Afridi will spearhead the pace attack, backed by Haris Rauf, Abbas Afridi, Zaman Khan, and the stylish left-handed batsman Saim Ayub, who will continue to open the batting order with Mohammad Rizwan. After them come Babar Azam, Iftikhar Ahmed, Fakhar Zaman, and wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan.
