Snowfall in Murree: A comprehensive traffic strategy has been developed for tourists

The traffic police department in Murree developed an efficient strategy to regulate traffic and can help tourists during the the snowfall season in Murree.

Syed Khurram Ali, Regional Police Officer, Rawalpindi,and Syed Khalid Hamdani, City Police Officer, Rawalpindi, directed the Chief Traffic Officer, Rawalpindi, Taimoor Khan, and City Traffic Police Officers assigned inMurree to make the best plans to control traffic during the snowfall season in Murree.

According to a CTP a spokesperson, 163 traffic wardens and traffic police officers had been assigned at all of the major roads in Murree to control traffic and benefittourists. 

He also stated that traffic police had prepared comprehensive  prepared comprehensive strategy for  Murree during the snowy season, which would prevent large vehicles from entering the city.

He also stated that an emergency Help Line 0519269200 has been established to help tourists.

Citizens with complaints could contact police at any time,said The Help Line centre also served as a control room from which all possible services were supplied to tourists and all efforts were made to deal with any unfavourable event. 

He also mentioned that some parking spots had been arranged to one side.Various routes, including Kashmir Point, Mall Road, Guldana Road, and others, have been closed for two-way traffic, he also stated that tourists should also cooperate with traffic police to avoid traffic jams especially during snowfall season.
He stated that while the snow makes the 'Queen of Mountains' even more attractive, which attracts people, the huge number of tourists causes problems at some locations. Traffic remains moving slowly due to the slippery condition of the wet roads.

According to a Commissioner office spokesman, the Murree district administration, on the directives of the Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Liaquat Ali Chatta, had established 13 tourist centres in Murree at Lower Topa, Satara Meel, GPO, Kashmir Point, Jika Gali, Kuldana, Masiyari, Sindhan, Kali Matti, Sunny Bank, Thanda Jungle, Bhorban, and Saharbagla.

During the snowfall season in Murree, the Commissioner Rawalpindi Division urged the officers to give all available facilities to tourists. Murree's major challenge, he says, is traffic jams, and the work of police and traffic wardens is very important that time.

The Tourism Department has also set up a 24 hours helpline to help tourists and keep them up to date about weather and traffic condition of Murree.

The vehicles enter in to the city were being recorded digitally at the Satra Meel Toll Plaza. He also mentioned that 26 CCTV cameras had been installed on all major highways or roads to monitor traffic.

According to Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, Deputy Commissioner Murree, all departments have been placed on high alert due to the forecasted snowfall in the coming days.

DC Murree stated that a separate website would be launched soon for the convenience and awareness of tourists.

The DC also stated that the website will help tourists to stay up to date from weather conditions, traffic conditions at various roads, hotels, and other important updates before visiting Murree.
