The numerous educational institutions in Islamabad, the federal capital, were temporarily closed on Monday, the sources claimed, in response to a serious threat of terrorism.
The decision to stop educational activities was made in order to prevent any potential tragedy due to worries about an imminent security threat. The steps were taken to reduce potential hazards.
According to the sources, a banned group had planned several "terror strikes" on educational institutions, primarily targeting Islamabad's colleges and universities.
The sources went on to say that these possible attacks, which have been planned between January 22–24, would use female suicide bombers connected to the banned groups.
The public has been informed by the relevant authorities that there are strong safety precautions in place around the capital, but attention has been advised, particularly with regard to electoral rallies and public gatherings.
Due to a possible terror threat, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) had previously issued a nationwide security high alert, which prompted intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Punjab.
