On February 8, 2024, Pakistan is scheduled to hold its postponed national elections. Many anticipated a matchup between PTI activist Sanam Javed and PML-N Maryam Nawaz.
PTI social media sensation Sanam Javed announced her withdrawal from the forthcoming general elections as her legal difficulties escalated, prompting many to refer to it as a battle between competing candidates.
Making the declaration while under detention by authorities in another terrorism case, Sanam was reported to be giving PML-N Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz, who is running for office from her party's heartland of Lahore, a hard time.
In support of independent candidate Mian Shahzad Farooq, Sanam's sister Falak Javed announced that her sister had withdrew her candidacy and that Farooq's campaign will be "regarded as her sister's campaign."
Additionally, she expressed her hope that Sanam Javed would soon be "seen in the National Assembly." Sanam's legal team brought up the fact that she was detained for over six months in connection with a terror case during Monday's proceedings. The Deputy Prosecutor contended that the PTI activist had incited a crowd to commit arson on May 9 following Imran Khan's arrest.
The PTI activist, who possesses a sizable fan base, was incarcerated for several months while she faced accusations stemming from several terror-related incidents.
Tehreek-e-Insaf, a well-known figure in Pakistan, was also accused of attacking law enforcement officials, injuring them, putting the country in a state of lawlessness, and attacking police officers.
