Recent rumors from sources in the Korean industry suggest that Apple would introduce its first foldable phone between 2026 and 2027.

Despite the hype, the device's precise specs and features are still being worked out. It is anticipated to have an internal display that is about 7-8 inches, possibly placing it as an iPad mini replacement in Apple's lineup.

In related news, there are rumors that Apple intends to introduce OLED screens into its iPad Pro series later this year. The iPad mini with OLED display is expected to be released the following year. It is also important to keep in mind that Apple is reportedly experimenting with a next-generation iPad mini equipped with an OLED display, raising questions about its future if a it is true that a foldable variant is coming.

Apple is rumored to have acquired sample foldable screen panels from Samsung Display and LG Display, which range in size from 6 to 7 inches, respectively. It appears that Apple intends to use a larger screen size for its possible foldable device debut.

Should Apple decide to pursue a dual-supplier strategy, LG Display is anticipated to start producing foldable panels for Apple about a year after Samsung's lead. If Apple moves forward with its foldable device project, Samsung Display will likely be the first choice for panel orders due to its extensive background in providing foldable panels for Samsung Electronics.
